Responsibilities

As a special education teacher specializing in intellectual disabilities at Utsikten, you will have a central role in creating conditions for the student's learning and development. You will be responsible for:

• Planning and implementing individualized and group-adapted teaching interventions that meet the unique needs of students.
• Developing and implementing pedagogical strategies and methods that promote learning and participation.
• Working closely with other teachers and specialists to ensure a holistic perspective with the student's development and well-being at the center.
• Building and maintaining relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues to create a safe and positive learning environment.
• Actively participating in teamwork and contributing to the development of the school's operations through problem-solving analysis and innovation.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with intellectual disabilities. You should be flexible and able to adapt to each student's unique needs and circumstances. To thrive in this role, you also need excellent collaboration skills as the work involves close cooperation with both colleagues and families. We value relationships, and therefore we are looking for someone with strong relational competence who can build trust with students and their relatives.

A holistic perspective is crucial for successfully supporting our students, and therefore we expect you to have the ability to see connections and act from an overarching perspective. Additionally, problem-solving analytical skills are a critical trait; you must be able to identify barriers and find creative solutions to help our students achieve their goals.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a certified teacher (preferably with a broad subject competence) and has a special education degree for teaching in adapted primary school.

We would also like you to have experience in organizing accessible learning environments and be confident in teaching and assessment based on current governing documents.

Experience in school development within adapted primary school is an advantage.
